”Optimisation” of imaging conditions for weak beam studies of dislocation core structures in Ti3Al
نویسنده
چکیده
The imaging conditions for weak beam (WB) studies of dislocations in Ti3AI with intermediate voltage transmission electron microscopes have been derived following a theoretical examination of the traditional criteria for WB-microscopy. The cores of <2c+a>-dislocations in room temperature deformed Ti3AI have been characterised in a case study with 300kV electrons by experimental WB-microscopy, which used imaging conditions not satisfying the traditional WB criteria. Image simulations facilitated the determination of the corrected dislocation dissociation widths for dissociated edge character dislocations. A superpartial separation of 19.5nm has been determined from experimentally observed image peak separations of (2lf 1)nm for the edge dislocation cores.

Improving seismic image in complex structures by new solving strategies in the CO-CRS and the CO-CDS methods
Conventional seismic imaging possesses problem in exposing structural detail in complex geological media. Nevertheless, some recently introduced methods reduce this ambiguity to some extent, by using data based imaging operator or emancipation from the macro-velocity model. The zero offset common reflection surface (ZO-CRS) stack method is a velocity independent imaging technique which is frequ...
متن کاملStatic Flexure of Soft Core Sandwich Beams using Trigonometric Shear Deformation Theory
This study deals with the applications of a trigonometric shear deformation theory considering the effect of the transverse shear deformation on the static flexural analysis of the soft core sandwich beams. The theory gives realistic variation of the transverse shear stress through the thickness, and satisfies the transverse shear stress free conditions at the top and bottom surfaces of the bea...
متن کاملRitz Method Application to Bending, Buckling and Vibration Analyses of Timoshenko Beams via Nonlocal Elasticity
Bending, buckling and vibration behaviors of nonlocal Timoshenko beams are investigated in this research using a variational approach. At first, the governing equations of the nonlocal Timoshenko beams are obtained, and then the weak form of these equations is outlined in this paper. The Ritz technique is selected to investigate the behavior of nonlocal beams with arbitrary boundary conditions ...
متن کاملArtifact reduction techniques in Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging modality
Introduction: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was introduced and became more common based on its low cost, fast image procedure rate and low radiation dose compared to CT. This imaging modality improved diagnostic and treatment-planning procedures by providing three-dimensional information with greatly reduced level of radiation dose compared to 2D dental imaging modalitie...
متن کاملModeling of the beam discontinuity with two analyses in strong and weak forms using a torsional spring model
In this paper, a discontinuity in beams whose intensity is adjusted by the spring stiffness factor is modeled using a torsional spring. Adapting two analyses in strong and weak forms for discontinuous beams, the improved governing differential equations and the modified stiffness matrix are derived respectively. In the strong form, two different solution methods have been presented to make an a...
